Welcome to the Computer Lab!

Pre-Kindergarten

  • Students will be able to identify the parts of a computer. In addition, they will develop basic
    computer mouse skills.
  • Computers will be used to explore and develop literacy and math skills. They will learn
    how to recognize and name letters of the alphabet on the keyboard.
  • They will understand proper etiquette, behavior, and body position when using a computer.

Kindergarten

  • The focus for kindergarten is to teach students basic technology skills with a strong focus
    on developing mouse, typing, and word processing skills.
  • Students will begin using computer applications for simple age appropriate tasks.
  • Computers will be used to explore and develop literacy and math skills.
  • Students will learn proper etiquette, behavior, and body position when using a computer.

1stt grade

  • Students will continue to learn basic computer skills with a focus on word processing
    skills. Students will be able to transfer their knowledge of basic operations to new
    applications and learn to change font sizes, styles, and colors as well as learn how insert,
    size, and position clipart / images, add page borders, and print documents. Students will
    also explore their creativity with the art programs.
  • Computers will be used to explore and develop literacy and math skills.
  • They will understand and demonstrate proper etiquette, behavior, and body position when
    using a computer.

2nd grade

  • Students will focus on all the letter keys and developing proper keyboarding skills. They
    will practice typing accurately on the home row keys, using both hands and proper finger
    placement.
  • Computers will be used to explore and develop literacy and math skills.
  • In second grade, we will introduce basic keyword search techniques. Students will begin
    to locate, select and use appropriate images to enhance curriculum projects
  • Internet safety will be addressed and discussed as well as ethical computer use.
  • Students will demonstrate proper etiquette, behavior, and body position when using a
    computer.

  • Students will continue to improve their speed and accuracy when typing.
  • They will begin to create, edit, and do more advanced work using word processing documents. Students will learn to create graphic organizers and simple presentations.
  • Computers will be used to develop and reinforce literacy and math skills.
  • Ethical computer use and Internet safety will be an ongoing discussion throughout the year.
  • By third grade students will continue to demonstrate proper etiquette, behavior, and body position when using a computer.

  • Students will learn how to find and evaluate information on the Internet.
  • They will learn to acquire data and apply the data to an Excell spreadsheet. The information will be used to create a simple chart.
  • Students will be introduced to coding and logic games.
  • In addition, students will continue to practice their keyboarding skills and focus on becoming proficient in application tools such as spell and grammar check, margins, etc.
  • Computers will be used to develop and reinforce literacy and math skills.
  • Ethical computer use and Internet safety will be an ongoing discussion throughout the year.
  • Students will continue to demonstrate proper etiquette, behavior, and body position when using a computer
